About Us

So, as sophomores in college we decided to undertake the seemingly impossible... run a marathon as a full-time college student! Hello everyone, we are Mary and Dana and we decided that in order to remain focused on our goal of running a marathon, we should keep track of our training and share our endeavors to constantly remind ourselves...why are we doing this again?

So, apparently there is winter in Baltimore?

Recently the southern city of baltimore has begun to feel more like home for us...and it's about time, i mean end of december it better be getting cold out!

One thing that the cold is not so good for however is running, it makes your sweat freeze on your face and your breath come in piercing gasps... but nothing beats walking back into the warm building after busting your butt in the cold... i crave the rush of adrenaline on the last hill, approaching campion tower at last, fingers frozen, barely breathing...but once at the top i know that 602 is waiting for us...full of heat :)

We have been trying to balance our lives, one would think that since classes are over it would be easy to balance studying and running...they are SO wrong, there aren't enough hours in the day to study for the exams, eat, run, and shower, let alone enjoy the final few days with your roommates before a long three week absence....

Speaking of which, I will be without a running buddy when I return to Massachusetts and mary will have to traverse the cold snowy streets of Buffalo alone for a while... i hope we don't get too out of shape :)

bye for now

Remember how we said that running 6 miles on a treadmill is no easy feat?? That's why we went with 4miles yeaterday. We made an executive decision, and it turned out to be an excellent one. There is nothing better than an awesome long run outside, but the coldness is not exactly encouraging, or good for breathing.

It was a good run though... especially with finals. Sometimes a good run is just what you need to work out the angst and move on with the day. That's why you do it... or at least one of many reasons.

Dana and I have been discussing the whole shoe thing too... basically I need new ones. Note: if your feet are hurting, check out your shoes. The awesome thing about running is that, most of the time, all you need are you and your shoes. So take care of them, and retire them when its time. Your feet will thank you.

Welcome to finals week....

Basically, finals occur twice yearly and cause our entire lives to explode in our faces... Two weeks before finals are hell, all the final papers and projects are due leading up to about a week and a half where instead of going to class everyday it is our job to devote our entire lives to studying...... AHHHH

The last day of class was wednesday, and that caused an uproar in our training because of the sheer volume of assignments that were due on tuesday and wednesday... also, it suddenly decided to be winter in Baltimore... we didn't think that happened!

As a result of the weather shift there is a daily debate in 602b when our alarms go off... is it too cold to run? should we get up and go to the fac? this morning, that debate ended soon after we discovered it was 26 degrees out with a windchill that made it feel like 20.... off to the fac we go!

Wish us luck... 6 miles on a treadmill is no easy feat!

Hello Internet!

So, this is our first post... not gonna lie it feels kind of strange to be writing our thoughts on the internet.... haha

On a side note, today we continued our training in the brisk baltimore cold :) It was chilly, but it was the perfect day. We ran a whole two miles, haha, resting our legs for our tuesday morning traditional long run!

Dana -- ok so this whole lets write about our lives on the internet thing is new to me... but basically i figured eventually we will get into writing more stuff about our goals and who we are, and why on earth we decided to do this, personally I blame Mary.... until two weeks ago I had never run more than 4 miles in my life! But, I am excited to be able to keep track of our training and be able to look back on our adventure once we accomplish our goal!!

Mary -- First of all, blame is not the correct word... thanking is probably more appropriate? So basically we both were athletes in high school, and decided we needed a goal to make our athletic endeavors worthwhile. I'm helping Dana to run farther (yes!) and she helps me with all the lifting/stretching/ all the athlete in general stuff haha. I always read about people's running paths, and we thought it would be cool to make some records of our own. Like a running journal (like Dana has *cough*), only this one people can read. This should be good, especially with the end of the semester and finals coming up, but I'm so excited!

wish us luck... it's going to be icy tomorrow morning!
